A Better Way to Diagnose a Roblox Game’s Growth
Low CCU is a symptom. The funnel shows where the cause is.
Low CCU does not mean the core game is bad. It means somewhere between a player seeing the game and staying in it, something leaks. Find the leak before changing the game.
Read the funnel left to right
Impressions → Clicks → Plays → Retention → Playtime → CCU. Each step answers one question, and the first weak step is where you work.
| Step | Question | If weak, it often means |
|---|---|---|
| Impressions to clicks | Is the creative earning attention? | Thumbnail, icon or title is unclear or unappealing. |
| Clicks to plays | Do taps become sessions? | Promise mismatch, slow load or wrong audience. |
| Early retention | Does the first session land? | Onboarding, clarity or a missing hook. |
| Return retention | Is there a reason to come back? | Weak progression, no goals, nothing new. |
| Playtime to CCU | Do sessions last long enough to stack? | Pacing, content depth or session length. |
Different breaks, different work
A great game with a poor thumbnail is a creative problem. Strong clicks with poor retention is a first-session problem. Good retention with low reach is a traffic problem. Rebuilding the game for any of these wastes weeks.
Fix the earliest broken step first, because everything after it depends on it. Then continue with how to iterate.
